Nissan vehicles come from the factory with lighting galore. The most common are headlights, daytime running lights or "DRLs", and taillights. Whatever type of light your Nissan has, it's probably got more than one use. A headlight, for example, can function as both a low-beam for everyday driving and a brighter, wider high-beam for when it's extremely dark. You can also use headlights as "flashers." They call them hazard lights for a reason: they tell other drivers you need help or that there's danger nearby. DRLs and tail lighting, however, show drivers in front of and behind where you are and how far away. Your "blinkers," on the other hand, are signal lights that indicate a turn or lane change, while your brake lights signal slowdowns and stops. Depending on the Nissan model you drive, you may even have other types of lighting. Fog lighting, for example, is great for bad weather: it shines low and brightly. Specialty lights, on the other hand, make excellent accents for exterior accessories like license plate frames. Headlamp or tail lamp, though, most lights are one of three bulb types. Halogen lamps, you'll find in smaller Nissan vehicles. Xenon or high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps, you'll find in Nissan sports cars and performance SUVs. LED lamps, you'll find in newer Nissan vehicles.

What lighting do you need? That depends on your make, model, and body style, of course. When to change a car light bulb, however, doesn't. Change a Xenon bulb every few years when it dims. Change an LED bulb if its electronics fail or the light itself goes out. Change a halogen bulb every couple years.
